Mario Mandzukic to have Surgery on Nose

Atletico Madrid confirmed that striker Mario Mandzukic will undergo surgery due to an injury to his nose playing for Atletico against Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday (09/16/2014). The plan, the operation will take place on Thursday and have not known how long would be absent.


Mandzukic, who joined the Primera Division champions Bayern Munich in the summer with a contract duration of four years, suffered a broken nose as a result of elbow Pajtim Kasami hit early in the game that took place in the Karaiskakis Stadium. However, Mandzukic could finish the match, which ended with the defeat of his team by a score of 2-3. In fact, the 28 year old striker knows this Croat had contributed one goal in the first matchday team who joined in Group A.

"Tests on Wednesday showed that the Croatian Mario Mandzukic suffered a broken nose. He will undergo surgery on Thursday, September 18, at 9 am at the clinic FREMAP Majadahonda," Atletico said in a statement via his official website.

Well, so then Mandzukic will be absent when Atletico against Celta Vigo in the Primera Division on Saturday (20/9). He had no chance to play in the midweek match Almeria faced.

Based on the scenario, Mandzukic only be performed when Sevilla host Atletico, or while diving second matchday of the Champions League against Juventus at the Vicente Calderon. However, he will wear a protective nose.
